Everything is a Toy

As a parent we want our child to have everything their little hearts desire.  This can obviously become very expensive very quickly, so we must show some restraint.  Especially, when it comes to buying clothes and toys.

At this age our son outgrows his clothes before we get them home from the store.  More often than not he is in between sizes.  His clothes either fit quite snugly or his pants look like they are going to fall off when he walks.  It is hard to spend lots of money on clothes when they do not last but a short while.  Even if they do fit, they end up getting stained with food or paint or whatever our son gets his little hands into throughout the day.

When it comes to toys for our son, the theory remains similar.  Most of his toys will capture his attention for a brief period.  Maybe a few here and there will last for a few weeks but those are few and far between.  It is inevitable that the more expensive the toy, the less interest our son will have in it.  The toy is not even his favorite part - it is usually the box it came in or the wrapping to protect it.  He learned about popping bubble wrap and that was it.  Any time he sees it, he goes right for it and tries to step on it.  I always liked popping bubble wrap, but never thought i would be more exciting than the toy it protects...
